Day 11 - Generations

    01.18.18 | by 40 Day Team

    Warm-Up
Pray: “Lord, open my heart and mind to the truth of Your Word. Thank you that your faithfulness is the same throughout all generations. Help me live out my faith with another generation—someone older or younger than me. If they don’t have faith in God, help me love them well and be a part of them finding You.”

    Round 1
Read Psalm 145:4-12, Genesis 17:1-8, and read 2 Timothy 1:3-5 out loud.  Write down what stands out to you about these passages.

    Round 2
Psalm 145: 4-12 is filled with exaltations to God about how “One generation will praise your works to the next one, proclaiming Your might acts.” On a scale of 1 to 10, how well are you currently fulfilling this command to your kids, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, grandchildren, friends’ children, or the generation outside of yours? Write down your answer and why you picked that score. What can you do to raise it?

    Round 3
Think about your family tree.  Write or draw it out.  Go back as far as you can.  It is completely unique. Think about each one of those names/people.  How far back does your faith story go? Take 5 minutes to thank God for His faithfulness through the generations in your family. Bonus: If you want to chuckle at how complicated family trees can get, watch this 4 minute video at this link.

    Burnout
Choose 3 people from your family tree and make a commitment to talk to them about your faith. Take time to plan some time with them to do this.
