Day 12 - Patient Surrender

12.08.17 | Advent by Joe Dascenzo

Pray: “God, sometimes I feel like my life is moving in slow motion. I want things sooner rather than later. I’m impatient about many things. Give me the patience that Simeon had. He waited, but he was expecting the whole time. Help me to anticipate Your activity in every area of my life and give me eyes to see it. I don’t want to rush things on my own timetable. I know Your pace is right. Help me trust it, knowing that You will come through."

    Round 1
Read Luke 2:25-35. Underline Messiah, salvation and revelation.

    Round 2
Take 5 minutes to think about the busyness of your life. Write down some areas where you are pushing too much. Simeon heard from the Holy Spirit and waited for Jesus to show up. Eventually, Simeon’s prayers were answered in God’s timing. Surrender the areas you are impatient about to God.

    Round 3
Write an encouraging short note for 3 different people this weekend. For example, your note could say: "You got this!" or "Don't give up!" or "You're awesome." or "Keep the faith." Place them somewhere they will find them. Don’t look for affirmation.  Write down the 3 people you will do this for and get them done!

Remember the sacrifice Jesus made on your behalf. If possible, take communion. Pray: “Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus on the night that he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it. This symbolized His body, which was broken for me. His body was beaten and struck for my healing. In the same way he drank from the cup which symbolized the new covenant of His blood. His blood covers my sins and gives me right standing with You. Thank you, God, for this revelation and for my salvation! What could I possibly say or do in response to this? I give you my life, make it count for You today."

    Heads Up Reminder
One day this week, plan to spend as little as possible, ideally zero dollars. Plan to make your meals ahead of time so you don’t have to eat out. Fill your gas tank the night before. The goal is to spend nothing for 24 straight hours. You can do it but it will take planning, strategy and discipline. Plan which day you will do this and write it down.
