Giving Day 2 - Liberal

    02.22.18 | by Joe Dascenzo

    Warm Up
Pray: "God, giving is meant to be joyful and fulfilling. It's not rooted in guilt or trying to win You over. It's really rooted in my response to Your amazing grace that You have lavished on me. Help me step up to live a generous life for 40 days by consistently giving the first 10% of my income back to You—simply as a response to the grace you have given me. You deserve so much more to be honest!"

    Round 1
Read: Malachi 3:10-12. Giving is the one area where God challenges us to test Him.

    Round 2
Write out the following two equations:

    • Generous = liberal in giving
    • Greedy = conservative in giving

Are you liberal or conservative in your giving? Circle the equation that represents you best.

    Round 3
Gather 10 things that are easy to find. Like 10 pens or 10 napkins or 10 grapes or 10 pieces of paper. Now, imagine that you want to share generously with a friend. How many of your 10 would you give them as a generous portion? 1? 5? Write down your answer. Does giving 10% back to God seem extravagant? Look at round 2 again before you write down your answer.

While you are sitting down, put both hands in front of you. Make a fist with one hand and open your other hand with your palm up. Then pray this: "God, I know that being generous is living life open-handed and not greedy and close-fisted. Help me to trust you with everything I have and be faithful to return some back to you."

Put $1 in the container you set out yesterday. You should have $2 saved.
