Solitude Day 3 - Be Still and Know...God Calms My Fears

    04.11.18 | by Joe Dascenzo

    Warm Up
The demands of life today pile up pretty quickly—your job, family responsibilities, email, and texts are just a few things that stress us out. Fear and anxiety can creep in quickly too. Trusting God as your refuge and strength is the beginning of calming those fears, even destroying them. This type of trust in God can calm you wherever and whenever—even in the middle of the craziness of life. You’re going to be stronger mentally, physically and spiritually as you trust the love God as for you.

    Round 1
Put your phone on "do not disturb."

    Round 2
Re-read Psalm 46 slowly. Find one thing that you noticed today but missed yesterday.
    Read 1 John 4:13-19

    Round 3
Set a timer, sit quietly for 5 minutes and think about your greatest fears. Write down what they are. Why do you fear these things? Breathe normally. As you exhale, imagine that you are breathing out the fears you have. Focus for a few moments on one fear, then on another. As you inhale, imagine that you are breathing in the grace of God.

    Round 4
    Listen to this song.

    Burn Out
Pray: “Father, this is how I know that I live in You and You in me: You have given me Your Spirit. I confess that You sent Your Son to be the Savior of the world. If I acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, You live in me and I in You. So I know and rely on the love You have for me. God, You are love. I have no fear in Your love. Your perfect love drives out all my fears.  God, You calm every storm in my life and every fear in my mind!”

Leave your phone on “do not disturb” for as long as you dare today.
