Why start a church?
The idea to start Second Place was born in 2007. That’s when Drew and Jana Epperson dreamed of starting a church in the south suburbs of Chicago (btw, Monee is the last official south suburb of Chicago!). In March of 2009, Joe and Sarah Dascenzo joined them to assist in their church planting efforts. Shortly after, a group of 12 people from the local area met for the first time and began dreaming together.
With the support of Tri-County Assembly Fairfield, Ohio, the dream of a unique expression of faith began to take shape and was full of life. They planned and worked like everything depended on them, and they prayed like everything depended on God. That combination motiviated many more people to join the movement to put Jesus, Home and Others first.
On Valentine’s Day 2010 Second Place held it’s first meeting in “The Warehouse”. Welcome to the dream.
Drew and Jana are now located in Tennessee to plant "Second Place Nashville"!
