Why we serve
In Exodus 3:9,10 God is speaking to Moses in the middle of the desert. It is here God says to Moses, "And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me...So now, go. I am sending you." God hears the cry and is willing to do something about it.
Dag Hammarskjold said, “The road to holiness necessarily passes through the world of action.”
Why should we care? Why should we serve? We care and serve because we were made in the image of God and the image of God is one of compassion and justice. What if a church sought out the cry of the oppressed and asked how they could serve them? What would happen if whole groups of people started asking these types of questions?
Second Place has a team focused on this. They are the mobilization team that finds the cry of the oppressed and organizes people to sustainable change to those that need it.
